While SUPing the other day, I noticed the smooth surface of the ocean and my board seamless gliding across. Every once in a while I’d hear and feel some chop, creating a bit of friction and slowing me down. It also required extra work to maintain my balance.
This is never ideal and reduces efficiency.
When I picked my head up and looked out at the ocean, the ripples were magnified, and the ocean texture didn’t appear so smooth after all. This perspective changed everything. The water wasn’t so smooth after all.
Projects can go like this, too. When only looking a short distance out, everything appears fine but when taking a holistic view you’re able to see the problems and navigate accordingly.
Don’t miss the forest for the trees.
